#StrategyForChange Town Hall Meeting

By  |

The passionate citizens of the black community assembled at the Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia under the direction of Radio One for a night of outcry, frustration, and heated discussion entitled #StrategyForChange. Rickey Smiley, radio host for the Dish Network, served as the facilitaor  for a quite culturally diverse panel.

Along with the fellow citizens of Atlanta, different celebrities such as 2 Chainz, Dc Young Fly, Young Jeezy, David Banner, Bernice King, Tyrese, Lyfe Jennings, ET from the Durrty Boys, and other political professionals discussed the injustices of today’s police culture. Most attendees were  outraged and longed for a solution to stop the mass killings of black people.

Though there was no instant and concrete answer to the problem, everyone left with an understanding on how to defeat the problem in the long run. Black people must invest their money into black owned businesses and invest into better education for our youth. These two methods give black people economic power, therefore enabling social power. This will counter the recklessness and carelessness of police.

Though the meeting spiraled out of control with furiously fed up civilians, it sparked discussion and awareness which is the first step for major change.
