Many tuned in this past Sunday to watch the BET Awards. This year, actor Jesse Williams accepted the 2016 BET Humanitarian Award, and delivered a powerful speech that touch audiences across America. Jesse Williams is a dedicated actor, activist, and producer of “Stay Woke: The Black Lives Matter Movement.” The BET Awards featured tributes to Prince and Muhammad Ali, with performances from Beyonce’ and Kendrick Lamar, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, and more. But this year, the actor’s acceptance speech focused on racial inequality, police brutality, and gentrification.
