Cops Awaiting Trial in Freddie Gray Case Want Charges Dismiss
The Baltimore police officers that were charged with the death of Freddie Gray have filed motions for the courts to dismiss their cases. Officers were charged when Gray, a 25-year old Baltimore native died of injuries sustained in police custody back in April 2015. His death caused massive riots and demonstrations across the city and the country. Baltimore’s state attorney Marilyn Mosby announced charges on all six officers early in the investigation. Three of the officers in the case have filed motions this past Tuesday claiming there were defects in the prosecution’s case that violated the officers’ rights. The trials have yet to yield a conviction as two have ended in acquittals and another in a mistrial. Sadly, this isn’t something we haven’t seen in the many cases involved with police killings throughout the country. We hope for justice for Freddie Gray and his family.
